Opening the Door on Research
Our own research (2006 -2010) shows that:
The children in this study all had 12 months of Open Doors Therapy. They were all underachieving at school and were getting further behind. We looked at their attainment before and after therapy and here is what we found.
The graphs below show the children’s National Curriculum progress against their NMI improvement as a result of therapy. One point is equivalent to four months progress .

At Open Doors Therapy we looked at 262, 5-7 year old across 4 schools, and looked at how well the children were achieving compared to their level of Neuro Motor Immaturity.
Children with Neuro Motor Immaturity are up to 15 times more likely to be in the below average group.
Children with Neuro Motor Immaturity are up to 3 times more likely to be below National Expectation.
Open Doors Therapy was selected by Love Writing Co to independently research the effects of age appropriate sized pencils. We found that when first picking up the LoveWritingCo pencil 95% of children had better pencil control and 80% wrote faster.
At Open Doors Therapy we support schools with innovative and effective practice. There are now a number of classes, who before writing do the Open Doors Thirty Second Warm Up.
Teachers have found that children write quicker, produce more work, write neater and are generally more focused, quieter and less fidgety. It should hardly be surprising after all handwriting is a physical activity and before doing any sport or gymnastics you should warm up!
