Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder & Attention Deficit Disorder

Difficulty paying attention, controlling behaviour and activity and hypersensitive / hyposensitive to certain stimuli.

Getting a diagnosis of ADHD/ADD can be difficult because the behavioural symptoms can switch on and off.  In addition, there are three types:

  • Predominantly Inattentive Type (PIT)
  • Hyperactive Impulsive Type (HIT)
  • Combined Type (CT)

Between 3-9% of children are thought to have ADHD with boys 4 times more likely than girls. Neuro Motor Immaturity can be an underlying factor with many ADHD children and Open Doors Therapy can be effective in improving their condition.

At Open Doors Therapy we can talk about the teen boy with ADHD, who after therapy, no longer ‘lost his cool’ when other boys tried to ‘push his buttons’, his GCSE grade predictions went up one level and he was eased off medication.
