Abdula - Y4

8 year old Abdula, who suffered from hydrocephalus as a baby, had very poor balance, posture and coordination. His head tended to drop to one side; he dribbled slightly and rocked when standing still. He didn’t like being different to his other class mates. The assessment showed that he had NDD. After 12 months therapy he was able to stand still and his whole posture normalised. There was marked improvement in his handwriting, he started to learn to catch, swim and ride a bike and was able to sit on a kitchen stool without feeling insecure. He still needed to undergo operations to correct eye movement, and the therapy did not ‘heal’ all the damage caused by hydrocephalus, but his movement, posture and coordination were more normalised. For Abdulla all kinds of doors opened.
